Last week, researchers from the Department of Engineering and Nuclear Sciences of Instituto Superior Técnico organised the course "Innovative Radionuclides and Radiopharmaceuticals", within the scope of the ENEN2plus project, funded by the EURATOM Research and Training Programme.
The course brought together national and international experts at the Technological and Nuclear Campus who presented lectures on prominent topics in Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, covering radionuclide production, radiolabeling chemistry, in silico approaches, methods for preclinical studies with cell and animal models and applications of radiopharmaceuticals.
The course also included several laboratory sessions to exemplify the various steps involved in the synthesis and evaluation of a potential radiopharmaceutical. In addition, a visit was made to the facilities of the Institute of Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health (ICNAS, Coimbra), the main institution in Portugal in the production of medical radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals.
Congratulations to the researchers António Paulo and Lurdes Gano for organizing this fantastic event. It was undoubtedly an enriching and unique experience for everyone involved!izing this fantastic event.
