Leonor Maria, DECN's Auxiliary Researcher

New researchers in 2025.

Leonor Maria began her research career at Instituto Superior Técnico, where she now holds the position of Assistant Researcher at the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Sciences (DECN).

The work he develops at the Technological and Nuclear Campus is based on the design and synthesis of molecular compounds of lanthanides, thorium and uranium, which allow the study of fundamental aspects of metal-ligand bonding, structure and reactivity with the aim of synthesizing new materials with new properties and potential applications in chemical transformations.

"In a context of growing global demand for sustainable energy and carbon-neutral fuel sources, the study of the binding of actinides with organic molecules will contribute to the development of methodologies for nuclear fuel recycling and environmental remediation," said Leonor Maria.

We wish you all success in your professional career.
