Applications for the 1st edition of the Master in Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage (MCTPC) are ongoing until July 31, which will begin in September (2022-2023 academic year). This master's degree, under the responsibility of DECN, will take place according to the new teaching model of IST.
The Preservation of Material Cultural Heritage is an emerging area that proposes applications of science and technologies to movable and immovable heritage, preferably using non-destructive or micro-invasive techniques.
Masters in Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage will be able to work, either in the laboratory, in a museum or in archaeological sites, or in companies with a holistic view of the scientific, technological, technical, socio-economic and ethical topics associated with material Cultural Heritage. This master's degree is based on a wide range of curricular options from both the IST and the Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.
Masters in Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage will thus have the skills to work in public and private sectors such as Museums, Town Halls, Houses of Culture, Archeology Companies, Environmental Impact Studies Companies, Tourism, Foundations and Auctioneers, in addition to of vocational training and education.
